These photos are of dogs with their entire rear foot on the ground, some are completely flat while others have the end of their hock slightly off the ground. A dog's ability to place it's whole rear foot against the ground while standing is a sure indication of a lot of angulation. Neither the spine nor the lay of the croup causes a dog's ability to do this, only the length of the thigh bone and/or leg bone, with or without the help of loose ligaments and tendons. Most of these dogs have a significant bend of stifle. You will notice that some of these dogs have fairly level backs while others have the steep sloping backs. There are many good croups and also short croups, long croups, steep croups and somewhat flat croups
